Sweden has been neutral since 1812 until 2024 when Sweden became the 32nd member of NATO.
Neutrality meant that Sweden invested large resources in its defense force during the Cold War. And the defense industry became one of the best in Sweden.
This makes Sweden’s Cold War history both exciting and interesting.

The defense of Sweden was not only about a very strong military defense. It was also about civil defense. The entire country was adapted to survive completely isolated from the outside world for at least 90 days.
